Accredited Housing Provider

Community Housing has an important role in today’s society.

There is a growing set of conditions and criteria demanded by funding providers, stakeholders and expectations of the Community.

In 1998 the first edition of the National Community Housing Standards was developed and revised again in 2003 (2nd Edition.)

Accreditation against these Standards is one of the tools available to Housing Organisations to demonstrate sound Governance and Management of its affairs.

The Accreditation process includes:

·         A document review of the systems, policies and procedures of the organisation (typically completed off site)

·         An on site assessment (certification review) to test the consistent implementation of the systems in compliance with the requirements of the Standards (this will include review of records, discussions and interviews with management, Board members, Tenants and other stakeholders as needed)

·         Reporting (a comprehensive report and findings are presented at the end of the process),

·         Follow up activities (typically within 3 months) to ensure that findings have been addressed.

·         The involvement of peer evaluations who themselves have current Housing experience

·         A review team, which includes a Global-Mark Client Manager (s), and a peer evaluator (s)

·         Review by the Global-Mark Reviews Council: the Council reviews the recommendation (for or against Accreditation made by the review team).  Membership to the Council includes Housing providers, Tenant representatives, and accreditation experts.
