ISO9001 is the super-star of all compliance programs. Since its release in the 1980’s ISO9001 has become the most used and published standard in the world. It has been accepted and adopted “as is” by most industrialized countries in the world and is very much a passport to trade.
ISO9001 is often used as a supply management tool, where purchasers seek to have confidence in their supplier or potential supplier’s ability to deliver quality. This in turn saves the purchaser and the supplier from having time consuming and expensive second party audits.
Given that ISO9001 was the management system standard to achieve international acceptance, many of the new compliance programs (ISO14001 for example) are based on the principles and structure of ISO9001.
In essence, ISO9001 certification reflects an organisation commitment to quality, leadership, systems and sound and stable processes, which can deliver consistently products or services that meet their customers’ expectations.
If you care about your clients, you are organized and you can prove it, ISO9001 should be a simple, yet important step. Certification will assist you prove and demonstrate that you have sound systems, and you are keeping them up to date, and in continued compliance.
An agency is defined as an organisation that is involved in the recruitment and placement of staff, either on a full time or part time basis.
The agency seeking certification must have systems in place and maintain records for (as appropriate to the nature of its operations and risks):
- Human resources records including as applicable: competence, training, qualification and credentialing (immunization) of staff, including staff or contractors being placed
- On-going training and education plans and records,
- On-site induction and training into the workplace where the agency is placing employees (whilst these records may not be generated at the agency, the agency should ensure it has a copy on site, and that these records are kept up to date). Induction and training records should include OHS, processes and emergencies, management system, non-conformances, incident reporting.
- Maintain adequate Professional Indemnity and Officers insurance
