1. Tell me about your company – what industry you are in and what does your business do?
For over 35 years, Sheldon has designed and constructed workplaces across Australia that empower people, drive performance and support sustainability. Our clients operate across industries including commercial, government, technology, finance, health and industrial. Sheldon provides a complete office fitout solution, through internal workplace strategy, interior design, construction, electrical, mechanical, and joinery/furniture manufacturing divisions. Our internal divisions provide us with a unique opportunity to oversee the social and environmental outcomes of projects, ensuring that our offices are sustainable and customised to tenants’ needs.
2. Can you please provide some top level information about your organisation, such as size, number of staff, office locations or similar?
Established in 1990, Sheldon has grown to a team of over 75 professionals across multiple disciplines. We operate from offices in Sydney and Canberra, supported by our dedicated manufacturing facility in Somersby on the NSW Central Coast. Our team has successfully delivered hundreds of office projects across Australia.
3. What motivated you to pursue certification?
We pursued certification to formalise and strengthen our internal WHS, Quality, and Environment Management processes, improve operational efficiency, and better manage risk. The ISO framework has provided a structured approach to continuous improvement and change management across the business.
4. What was your experience like when working through the certification process with Global-Mark?
The team at Global-Mark has been an invaluable partner throughout our certification journey. Aligning our operations with three ISO standards (WHS – ISO 45001; 2018, Quality – ISO 9001; 2016, Environmental ISO 14001; 2016) is a major undertaking, and their openness to our innovative approach made the process smoother and more effective.
5. What is the result you’ve achieved, for example, are you satisfied with the result?
We’re proud to have completed our recent recertification audit with zero nonconformances. This reflects the strength of our system and the commitment of our team. Our staff have embraced the platform, finding it reliable and supportive of their day-to-day responsibilities.
6. Have you observed any additional business advantages that arose as a result of achieving certification?
Certification has delivered tangible benefits, including fewer incidents, stronger team collaboration, and enhanced visibility for senior management. High-risk tasks are approached with greater assurance, roles are better supported by defined processes, and client relationships have improved through increased transparency and trust.
