In Focus: Alwyn Rehabilitation Hospital

Joanne HurstSuccess of Clients

Alwyn Rehabilitation Hospital has been operating since 1958 and is an independently owned and operated 26 bedded private hospital inclusive of a hydrotherapy pool. It is located in the leafy inner-western suburb of Strathfield.  Alwyn provides a very successful rehabilitation service for both inpatient and day rehabilitation patients, and though small, has a dynamic team of professionals caring for the needs of its patients and their families.

Our multi-disciplinary team works collaboratively with the patient and their family/carers to promote maximal restoration of function and optimum quality of life.

We believe that each patient is entitled to a high quality of health care and should be afforded full recognition of his/her safety, dignity, integrity, and rights, including confidentiality. We recognise the need for each patient to be treated as a unique individual and view each person, his or her family and environment as interdependent systems.

We recognise the commitment of our team members as the primary strength in the achievement of our objectives. The team members reinforce each other’s work throughout the day, the net effect being much more than the sum of the individual therapies.

As a Private Hospital we are required to be certified to the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards (NSQHSS). We have been dealing with Global-Mark since 2008 initially certified to ISO 9001 and transitioning to the NSQHSS. With the COVID 19 situation in NSW our assessment was conducted as a Hybrid assessment with one assessor on site and the second one completing the assessment remotely. We found the experience to be a positive one with staff engaged in the process.
