Neo Construct is a commercial builder based in Clayton, Victoria, and services the entire Melbourne metropolitan region. We are a medium-sized company with over 25 on-site and off-site employees that are led by our director Gary Hartley and supported by project managers David Williams and Cameron Shepherd. Our primary focus is on the medical, institutional, and governmental sectors of the industry as we have over 50 years of combined experience in these areas.

Neo Construct’s journey into certification started in early 2019 when we applied for, and were subsequently certified in, both ISO 14001:2016 (Environmental) and AS 1408:2001 (Health and Safety) as during the preceding years we began to realise the need to have sufficient management systems in place for our projects and the business itself.

Leading up to the initial audit, we spent the good part of a few months collecting and collating all our documentation in preparation for the audit. Although the idea of undergoing an external audit for the first time was daunting, we found that Global-Mark’s certification process was streamlined, and the auditors were very professional and pleasant to work with. The auditors’ expertise and knowledge of the construction industry has been an essential part of understanding what we are trying to achieve with these certifications.

Seeing the advantages that these management systems made to our operations, we found it prudent to take the next step and seek certification in ISO 9001:2015 (Quality) as well upgrading our OHS management systems to comply with ISO 45001:2018, both of which we proudly achieved this year. This certification has been a very important step to the business as we are now able to demonstrate to our clients our commitment to their projects and to further achieve the goals of an on-time and on-budget project.

Becoming certified in all three areas has greatly benefited our business as we are now able to provide evidence of these certifications as part of our tender and additionally now automatically pre-qualify for many organisations’ stringent tendering requirements.

We have found that every year, whether it be a surveillance audit or re-certification, that Global-Mark’s efficient certification process assist us to maintain and improve on our integrated management system.
