When Disability Employment Service, Joblife Employment, opened its doors on 2 July 2018 it started with 25 staff and 200 clients. Fast forward 20 months and the business has grown more than 1000% with more than 60 staff and over 2000 clients.

A joint venture between Australia’s largest social purpose organisation, Life Without Barriers, and leading employment and recruitment provider, Angus Knight, the partnership aims to support those people who are hardest to place.

CEO of Joblife, Nunzia Confessore, said the company’s vision was “A Job For Everybody” and believes that Joblife will help build a stronger, more resilient and more connected society.

“We provide genuine care and support and take the time to really get to know our clients so they can achieve their career goals,” she said.

“Many of our clients have mental health issues including anxiety, depression, bipolar or PTSD and need additional support to find employment and then to stay in their job. Once we have placed someone into employment or training we stay with them for as long as they need us.

“A significant number of our participants are school leavers with disability, illness or injury who want to work with an employment service that can give them a head start in carving out a career. We work closely with the families, schools and support networks so they can achieve their objectives.

“We now have more than 80 sites around Australia and increasingly we are finding that word of mouth is our major referral source. To date we have placed more than 1500 people in employment or training which has been life-changing for these participants.

“We’ve established partnerships with employers, community organisations, government agencies and not-for-profits who all have a commitment to changing the employment landscape for people with disability.”

Under the Disability Employment Services contract with the Australian Government, Joblife was required to undertake certification against the National Standard for Disability Services, and selected Global-Mark based on its reputation for thoroughness and transparency in its approach.

“We found the whole process to be professional and straight forward. The Global-Mark team visited many of our sites and spoke to staff and clients to gain an understanding of the business and how we are different to other providers in the sector. They were open and customer focused with the whole process clearly mapped out.  Their passion for working with people with disability was evident through their knowledge and the first-hand experiences of auditors who, themselves, live with disablity.

“I believe there will be on-going business benefits with a strong focus on continuous improvement for Joblife as a result of the certification process by Global-Mark.”

Joblife achieved full certification with no non-compliance issues in their recent audit in February 2020.
