Medical Locum Agencies

Joanne HurstMedical Locum Agencies, Scheme / Program Update

For continued recognition by NSW Health as a Medical Locum Agency within the state, all Agencies must undergo an independent certification audit by a third-party JAS-ANZ-accredited organisation against the standards and conditions set out in the Medical Locum Guidelines.

These audits are required every three years, and the Ministry of Health has recently clarified that Agencies in NSW may adopt or develop their own quality management systems based on recognised quality assurance systems. While the standards present adoption of ISO 9001 certification as an option, it is NOT mandatory. This removes the requirement for an annual audit, therefore making the audit process more affordable and less onerous for Agencies.
