CodeMark Update

Joanne HurstCodeMark, Scheme / Program Update

CodeMark certification can play a significant part of the go-to-market strategy for suppliers who rely on Performance Solution(s) to demonstrate their system’s compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC).

Based on the Australian Building Code Board (ABCB) revised advice https://codemark.abcb.gov.au/news/2021/ncc-provision-a224-and-codemark-certificates, a building practitioner is not required to undertake the process for A2.2 (4) again for the clauses and systems that are CodeMark certified, because the certification process ensures that an assessment equivalent to the process set out in  A2.2 (4) is undertaken to issue the certification (*).

The process set out in A2.2.(4) can be costly and time consuming. It ties up valuable resources that could be used elsewhere. Having a CodeMark certificate reduces redundancies by having the assessment done once and increases the market acceptance of your solution.

(*) It is important to note that the process set out in A2.2 (4) may be required for other aspects of the compliance of the overall building solution.
