1. Tell me about your company – what industry you are in and what does your business do?

Avopiling was established by Avo Tevanian in Sydney, NSW in 1989 and has been trading as Avopiling Australia Pty Ltd since this date. Avo has over 32 years of challenging international experience in the field of piling. Avopiling Australia Pty Ltd is a proud Australian owned and operated company that, since establishment, has grown to be one of Australia’s leading piling and foundation company. Originating its service operations within NSW, Avopiling has been engaged on major projects throughout Australia and has established regional offices in Queensland in 2007, Western Australia in 2010 and recently in Victoria in 2022.

2. Can you please provide some top level information about your organisation, such as size, number of staff, office locations or similar?

Avopiling is a market leader in providing Piling and foundation technology solutions to major civil infrastructure projects. Avopiling undertakes a broad range of projects throughout Australia including specialised civil works, offshore piling, sheet piling, grout injected piling, bored piers, retaining walls, diaphragm walls, foundations for multi-storey buildings, road and rail bridge foundations, ground improvement works and drilling deep and large diameter shafts. As a result of Avopiling’s experience, technical knowledge, strong quality, safety and environmental management skills, Avopiling is often the preferred subcontractor for major road, tunnel, rail and mining infrastructure projects where such high standards are required.

Avopiling is a privately owned company. During its growth it has maintained a family orientated culture. Avo himself is still very active in the day to day operations of the business, supported by two of his sons who work inside the business today. Avo took it upon himself to train young staff mostly new to the piling industry to ensure that the company culture remained intact. This team has now grown to be a very experienced and professional crew who is extremely focused on safety, continuous improvement and productivity. This has enabled Avopiling to create a unique work environment different from your traditional hierarchy approach. This in turn has generated a great deal of ownership for individual employees and instilled pride in the workmanship, improving drive, enthusiasm and quality.

Avopiling employs qualified and professional Engineers with vast local and international experience. Our project management staff is mostly from an Engineering discipline. This enables us to solve complex buildability issues quickly and efficiently on site and is a reason why Avopiling has been a market leader in major civil infrastructure projects in recent years.

Avopiling’s workforce is the core of its activities. Current workforce across Australia is now at 238. Our staff is continuously trained in this specialised field of works. Through this training we have developed highly experienced personnel within the organisation that can take on projects of a simple nature right through to complex ground engineering projects. Avopiling workforce is a mixture of young enthusiastic and senior site operatives. Our staff have always been participating in work health safety and environmental solutions and encouraged by management to take up new roles in the company. Our office and site personnel have through the years established their knowledge to deliver high quality standard of work with an outlook of dedication and learning new concepts. With the support of our highly skilled professional engineers, our management and construction staff is able to nurture a culture of team building and company loyalty that combines to make Avopiling the market leader that it is today.
